Empowering Creative Entrepreneurs. Building Sustainable Artist Careers.
Business of Art is a culturally responsive workforce initiative by 1000 Words Inc. designed to equip emerging artists with the entrepreneurial tools needed to build thriving, sustainable creative businesses.
Rooted in cultural equity and economic empowerment, the program addresses one of the most persistent gaps in the arts sector: access to business knowledge, financial literacy, and professional infrastructure for underrepresented creatives.
Through hands-on training, mentorship, and real-world application, Business of Art helps artists transform creative passion into long-term economic opportunity.
Program Overview
Business of Art operates as a multi-week cohort experience serving emerging visual artists in Indianapolis. Participants engage in workshops, coaching sessions, and peer learning environments designed to demystify entrepreneurship and strengthen career readiness.
