WHAT’S IT WORTH?

Cameron Omega

Meet Cameron Omega, an abstract painter and graphic designer hailing from Fort Wayne, IN. Cameron's preferred canvas is adorned with paint and markers, and their creative process involves a meticulous two-part method. First, they carefully plan out their lines, and then they dive into the colors, allowing the moment to guide them, resulting in a nuanced tapestry of emotions and thoughts within each piece.

Cameron describes their abstract style as "Metamodern Abstract Minimalism" or, more simply, "Indirect Earnestness." Through their art, Cameron delves into self-understanding, viewing each piece as a reflection of their own journey. However, they also invite viewers to use their artwork as a mirror for introspection, hoping that others can find pieces of themselves within the strokes and colors.

Every work Cameron creates is a representation of their feelings, thoughts, and life experiences, with the aspiration that viewers will discover a deeper understanding of themselves through their art.

What is the worth of a painting? Is it an investment, a feeling, an experience? To me art is not about money. It is about seeking of understanding. A hope for connection. A chance for the artist to reveal something about themselves and in turn, a chance for the viewer to learn something about themself. A internal exchange between the artist and the work, then the work to the viewer. In seeing something that inspires something in you, you gain something. From a small look into a side of yourself you rarely engage with or a moment of awe that widens your thinking. A chance to be seen and to see. For this show I wanted to ask what is the worth of a painting to you, the viewer. And in turn gain an understanding between the artist, the work, and the viewer.
