🎉✨ Unveiling a Forgotten Legacy – Final Friday, October 25th! ✨🎉
Join us for an urgent and powerful exhibition by Power Plant Grant recipient Zola Lamothe, as she uses set design and photography to uncover the erased history of Indianapolis. This is more than art—it’s call to stand against displacement.
Thanks to the Power Plant Grant, supported by Big Car Collaborative and funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Zola’s work shines a light on the families, homes, and churches that once thrived where the Indiana University Indianapolis campus now stands. She vividly recreates intimate scenes from these lost spaces, demanding that we confront how gentrification has stripped away vital pieces of our city’s cultural fabric.
As you witness the stark contrast between what was and what is, this exhibition compels us to act. We cannot allow this to continue. We must challenge the policies and laws that fuel displacement and fight for reforms that protect our communities. Together, we can resist further erasure and reclaim our neighborhoods for the people who have always called them home.
This is a moment for reflection, but also for action.
